The Wedding

Today is Friday

Had a decent breakfast and got dressed ready to get on the coach to the wedding.

The coach got lost and after some doubling back pulled up outside a church and announced we had arrived, wrong church, oops!  A few phone calls later and we arrived at the right church, on time.

It was a lovely wedding. Perc scrubbed up really well, and Laura looked stunning.

The wedding cars, Geoff informed me that these are relatively new cars made to look old and are built just for wedding hire.

Ss Peter and Paul Church at Hutton Henry was a lovely small Church, and had been decorated beautifully by Laura's family.  The hanging flower baskets were in full bloom.

The Church has some interesting history, while everyone was out enjoying the celebrations, Steven sneaked back into the church, and had a  chat to the minister. Apparently the church was built in 1820, and was designed to look more like a farm building because Catholicism was illegal in England around this time.

After the Wedding we got back on the coach and headed for Headlam Hall and the reception.
The gardens at Headlam Hall are fantastic.

Laura, Perc, Isabel (Flower Girl) & Mum (Pam)

We went in for the meal and Steven found the bar, Smooth on tap. The meal was great.
After the meal we all wandered back out into the garden while the room was reorganised for the evenings festivities. More guests came and the Irish band started playing. The English know how to party and they know how to dance. It is odd to see men get up and start dancing as soon as the music starts, regardless of who they are with. At one stage there were about 20 men dancing and no women.

Mum and Geoff "tripped the light fantastic", Steven just tripped.

On the way home at 12.30am the next day, the coach driver got lost, the songs on the coach were a tad crude.

I was an epic wedding, 13 hours.
A lot of fun, great company, great food, and the reason we started thinking about embarking on this trip over 18 months ago............
