Ulko-Nuokko Island

Today is Friday

Anna-Maija took us for a boat ride to the island Ulko-Nuokko which is a national park.

There are a lot of boats in the marina at Kotka, all of these boats must be taken out of the water at the end of summer because in the winter the sea freezes over. It’s a bit hard to believe when we are in the warm sunshine.

The sun was shining and it was very warm, first the girls had to put their life jackets on.

The boat ride took about 2 hours. The island was picture postcard.

There are lots of islands around Kotka and they are very popular in the short summer. In the winter the islands are accessed by skiing or bike as the entire sea is frozen.

We went for a walk around the island and then had a BBQ lunch.
