Bedford

Today is Monday

We packed up and left Silverstone nice and early.
We had decided to visit Blenheim palace.
Our dear friend sat Nav directed us straight into a traffic jam on the motorway. We took left out of the jam and reprogrammed sat Nav to avoid motorways. She wasn't happy and wouldn't talk to us for a while, we had to reboot the phone.

We followed some amazingly winding and narrow country roads stumbling across a little town called Middle Aston with a canal winding under a stone bridge.
Beside the road were a couple of World War Two pill boxes.

There was also a strange place carving wooden deer heads.

Eventually we found the palace and paid the $56 each admission fee. Access to some areas were extra. The palace is an amazing building.
We toured the building and grounds.

Tammy removed some of the display and put it on for a photo shoot.

Bedford

Then it was on to Bedford, where Steven was born.
Straight to Clapham where he used to live. We found the site of his old primary school, the school is long gone but some of the buildings remain. The quadrangle play area with its retaining wall were we used to play with our toy cars was still there, as were the classrooms for grades 2 and 3. The classroom for grade 4 was gone but it's concrete floor was still there and now part of the church car park. We will return tomorrow for some more exploring.

We drove on to St. Neots where we are camping for the night.
After tea a quick walk around the park.
