Our first stop was Watchett, It is our first glimpse of the sea in a few weeks. Watchett is typical narrow winding roads. We were there at low tide so much of the coast is mud flats, the boats lay in the harbour on the mud, including the coast guard, not sure what happens in an emergency.
I found window shopping difficult, as we had to be on the lookout for passing traffic, hence the shopping trip was short
Steven has completely run out of foot path, his excuse to abandon the shopping spree
While travelling the South West Coast we called into a small town called Dunster. This is a small English Village within the Exmoor National Park. We visited a working flour mill, and strolled through beautiful gardens. These were a part of the Dunster Castle.
Exotic plants, these leaves were enormous
"Lovers Bridge"
Tree Hugging Steven
Dunster Castle - we were expecting a ruin, instead we visited a Home run by the National Trust - complete with solar panels, supplying a third of the Castle's electricity needs ??
Steven The Great - Note the weight of the armour has squished his neck- not sure who the model was posing for the picture, but she looks ready to do battle.

The view from Dunster Castle
We had a wander around Dunster after looking at the castle. More narrow winding streets.
The covered market built in 1609 is an interesting building.
Wonky windows, over the years the building has moved creating an interesting effect on the windows.
Typical thatched cottage, complete with a beautiful cottage english garden.
After Dunster we decided we had better get some miles in and headed down south.
This is our first wet and rainy day.
We drove through the Exmoor National Park along the coast past some spectacular scenery, at least we were told it was spectacular we just saw mist.
We travelled down a very narrow winding road to the seaside village of Lynmouth, great care had to be taken, as the road wound steeply down the ciff (with numerous emergency exits for failing breaks) It was an amazing village, lots of visitors, and in true English fashion enjoying an icecream by the seaside (in pouring rain)
We ended the day in Cambourne, way down the bottom pointy bit. As it was getting late and it was still wet we opted for a motel, with a restaurant for the night. (and a big bed) It also has WiFi which is good, We haven't had a good enough internet connection to update our blog for 3 days.
