Today is ThursdaySalisbury is a beautiful city, small, and very friendly, with lots of interesting buildings.
In finding our way to the Cathedral in town, we asked a local for directions, and were told to follow the path until we saw the tall spire, and in doing so was stunned at the size, and style of the 'gothic' cathedral.
The Salisbury cathedral also houses one of four original scripts of the Magna Carta, very awe inspiring to say the least. The Magna Carta is 800 years old this year.

The Town Square

Diverse architecture.

Salisbury Cathedral has the highest spire in England.
The cathedral was constructed in the 1200's it only took 38 years to build.
Flying Buttresses
Stonehenge

We had organised a guided tour of Stonehenge, it started at 4.00 pm and went until 9.30. It was the best thing we could have done.
We started at Woodhenge and moved on to the barrows (burial mounds) and the Cursus.
We had a look at the reconstructed round houses and the Stonehenge Museum.
What are they looking at?
And are they related?
We followed the Avenue up to the stones along the path that was originally designed as access, this allowed the stones to gradually emerge as we came over a small hill. it was our first view of the stones and very eerie.
After the working class had left the site we were given access to the stones and permitted into the inner circle. It was brilliant

It has been another long day and one of the best, we didn't believe we would get to walk amongst the stones........ But we did.
The tour guide was an archaeologist who has studied the stones for years and his work has featured on many documentaries. We were very lucky to have booked him early enough as he is hard to get, he only takes 12 people on the tour. It was the best.
