Had a bit of a late start to the day, we needed a rest.
We wandered around the streets a bit, the sun was shining, however as soon as we stepped outside among the wee red haired folk it was a wee bit chilleee.
Then it suddenly started to rain. Then the sun came ooot. Then it got windy. Then it started to rain.
We went back to our room and got our raincoats.
Huge floral clock in the park.
Our hotel as viewed from the park
Scott Monument
Little stone man holding
up the bay window
Along the way Tammy found a European Eagle Owl to put on her arm.
Then she found a bagpipeplayer to put on her arm
The castle was our first tourist attraction and it was rather busy. It is a great building and being high up on the cliff overlooking the city it has some great views. We saw the Scottish Crown Jewels and the stone of destiny which was stolen from Westminster Abbey in the 1950's.
It was returned to Scotland after 700 years. It looked a bit like a stone with two handles.
We went down to Mary King's
Close that was a small street, well three actually that was closed off in
the 1600's because a building was built on top of it.It was opened to the tourists about ten years ago and is worth a visit. It has a history with the plague and the souvenir shop sells fluffy black rats. Not sure if that is very nice. We weren't allowed to take photo's as there are government buildings above. Or more likely they want you to buy the guide book with the photo's in it.
On the way out, Steven noticed Fleshmarket Close, had to take a picture being a Rebus fan, speaking of which.....
We went to the Oxford Bar, Rebus' old drinking haunt for a pint. It was full of pratts so we didn't stay too long.
We went to a Thai restaurant that was absolutely brilliant for tea. The food was the best since Tammy last cooked a roast.
